The VT Plus is a small, lightweight,
rugged unit that measures pressure,
flow, volume, oxygen concentration, and
barometric pressure quickly and
accurately. The VT Plus is not specific
to any one ventilator or gas flow
device. Therefore, it can be used to
maintain a large variety of respiratory
products such as gas outlets, flow
meters, pressure gauges, anesthesia
ventilators, and vacuum systems. The
high-resolution display generates
extremely accurate flow, volume, and
pressure waveforms. This next-generation
gas flow analyzer utilizes unique
bi-directional sensor technology for
detecting gas flows.
Only the VT Plus has on-board trending
for continuous and indefinite ventilator
analysis.
The VT Plus is designed to facilitate
the testing and troubleshooting of the
new generation of ventilators. It is
compatible with ventilators utilizing
bias flow, PEEP, CPAP, pressure support,
and volume support technologies.
"Bio-Tek really listens to
what the market wants. The VT Plus
is a fantastic product that has
found hard-to-diagnose ventilator
problems . ..no one else comes
close."
Brian Sampson, Technical Support
Mediq/PRN, Pennsauken, NJ
Operational Description:
Modes of Operation
- Manual mode for simple tests or
troubleshooting
- Computer control mode for OTIS
or RT200 emulation
- Black box mode for generating
graphs and logging data to a
computer
Monitor Test
This test displays 3 waveforms along
with absolute, minimum, maximum, and
average values for each parameter. The
user can change the displayed parameter
to any other parameter measured by the
VT Plus. This screen can be used to
study synchronized waveforms.
Flow Test
Measure the bi-directional flows of the
gas in any respiratory device. This test
is used specifically to verify the bias
flow on a ventilator or the output of a
flow meter. The unique bi-directional
flow transducer in the VT Plus provides
a simpler way of evaluating pulmonary
function testing equipment. Two
measurement ranges are provided.
Pressure Test
Choose between low, high, or airway
pressure to verify the performance of
pressure-controlled ventilators or gas
outlets. Use the negative pressure range
to measure aspirators and suction
devices. Use the low pressure port to
verify the proper operation of
laparascopic insufflators.
Volume Test
Check the breath-to-breath volume
displaced by a ventilation device or use
the graph to troubleshoot sticky valves,
clogged lines, or filters.
Full Test
This test obtains breath-to-breath data
points simultaneously, and calculates
and displays up to 17 ventilator
parameters. All parameters are grouped
together for efficient data analysis.
From this screen, the user can perform a
trend test. Simply enter one of the
parameters and a percent range. If the
VT Plus measures a value outside the
selected range, the VT Plus will perform
a full test and print out the results.
O2 Test
Graph and monitor the O2 concentration
of any flow through the high flow port.
Calibrate oxygen blenders and verify
ventilator outputs within the range of 0
to 100%. The sensor is in a
user-accessible compartment for quick
and easy replacement; no need for
recalibrating the whole unit.
VT Plus Graphics Program:
The VT Plus graphics software provides a
simple interface for recording and
playing back data calculated by the VT
Plus. Most functions on the VT Plus are
available using the VT Plus software.
