Overview

Simultaneous testing of multiple infusion pumps.
The IDA 4Plus Multi-Channel Infusion Device Analyzer decreases total testing time for all types of infusion pumps. Each channel operates independently so a multiple variety of pump types including volumetric, syringe, and PCAs can be evaluated simultaneously for volume/flow and occlusion pressures. The auto start feature simplifies the testing of high volume pumps or others without startup characteristics. The Instantaneous flow measurement and 60 microliter resolution takes the complexity out of flow output analysis for faulty infusion devices. The oversized numbers on the brilliant graphics display allows the user to monitor values across the room.

Operational Description:

Flow/volume: Use this mode when testing an infusion device that pumps or controls a single rate until a volume to be infused is complete. The instrument continuously samples the volume as the fluid is infused. The sample size varies based on the flow rate; the minimum sample size is 60 microliter. The flow/volume test is used to verify peristaltic and syringe pumps. Apply a back pressure on the output port to evaluate the pump’s performance with a back pressure. The IDA 4Plus displays this pressure in the View screen.

Dual flow: This mode is used to verify the correct operation of the piggyback or ramped output of an infusion pump. A ratio of xx:x between the secondary and primary flow rates is required to obtain accurate results. The primary, secondary, and instantaneous flow rates along with the primary and secondary volumes are displayed.

PCA tests: This mode fully analyzes the output from a Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) pump. A basal rate setting between 0 and 30 ml/hr and minimum bolus size of 0.5 ml provides means to perform comprehensive tests on PCA pumps.

Pressure: Set the infusion pump to the manufacturer's recommended flow rate and select occlusion on the IDA 4Plus. Measurements will be displayed in mmHg, psi, or kPa. This measures the downstream occlusion on the infusion pump.

Priming: Priming the IDA 4Plus is a simple technique using an enclosed syringe. Generally, this task can be done with less than 5 ml of fluid, depending on the priming solution.

Hydrograph Graphics Software:

Use the moving color visual advantage of Hydrograph to troubleshoot up to 4 infusion pumps at once. Data is taken directly off the transducer and transmitted to Hydrograph. The flowing graphs provide an electronic means to display, store, and recall flow patterns for comparison at a later date. Each test window can display instantaneous and average flow rates, cumulative and bolus volumes, and occlusion pressure.

Specifications

Average flow rate technique
» Calculated by measuring a volume over time

Range
» 0.5-1000 ml/hr

Accuracy
» 1% of reading +1 LSD for flows of 16-200 ml/hr for volumes over 20 ml. Otherwise, 2% of reading +1 LSD after delivery of 10 ml.

Volume measurements technique
» Volume is measured directly by the transducer in minimum sample sizes of 60 micro-litres.

Range
» 0.06-9999 ml

Accuracy
» 1% of reading + 1 LSD for flows of 16-200 ml/hr for volumes over 20 ml. Otherwise, 2% of reading +/- 1LSD after delivery of 10 ml

Minimum bolus volume
» 0.5 ml

Maximum bolus count
» 99

PCA measurements technique
» Volume is measured directly by the transducer in minimum bolus volumes of 0.5 ml. The measurement is made with a continuous rate between 0.0 and 30 ml/hr. The bolus flow rate should be at least four times the basal flow rate for reliable detection of boluses.

Maximum bolus volume
» 9999 ml

Accuracy
» See volume measurement

Pressure measurements technique
» Direct occlusion of the infusion line and measurement of pressure prior to the glass transducer.

Range
» 0-45 PSI and equivalents in mmHg and kPa

Accuracy
» 1% of full scale + 1 LSD

Back pressure
» -100 mmHg to + 300 mmHg

Supply voltage
» Auto-switching: 120-240 V

Dimensions
» 11.8” x 9” x 7.2”
» (30.2 cm x 22.9 cm x 18.1 cm)

Weight
» 10.8 lbs. (4.9 kg)
