Overview

One Analyzer For All Your Defibrillator & Pacer Testing Needs.

Finally, a defibrillator and transcutaneous pacemaker analyzer that meets the specified pacer test load requirements of major manufacturers (Physio-Control, Zoll Medical, MDE, Hewlett Packard). With the Impulse 4000, you can add optional pacer modules that provide up to four possible test loads. These modules plug directly into the side panel of the Impulse 4000, and can be "activated" with just the push of a button.

That’s not all. The Impulse 4000 offers more than other products on the market. Some standard features include:

  • Defibrillator energy, charge time, and cardioversion testing
  • Transcutaneous pacemaker testing
  • 12-lead ECG with independent output simulation
  • RS-232 port for medTester 5000B, medTester 5000C, or PC control
  • 50 programmable automated test sequences
  • Standard interactive training scenarios
  • Standard interface for defib training manikins
  • Large 4-line by 40-character LCD display
Defibrillator Testing
With the flexibility to test manual and automated defibrillators, the Impulse 4000 meets all your energy and cardioversion analysis needs. Simply discharge the defibrillator into the Impulse 4000 for an accurate measurement of energy, peak voltage, peak current, pulse width, and charge time. All information is digitally displayed on an easy-to-read, 4-line by 40-character LCD display. Test results can also be printed at your convenience.

Output Energy Measurement
The Impulse 4000 measures the output energy of Lown, Edmark, Truncated Exponential, and Trapezoidal waveform defibrillators up to 1000 joules (watt-seconds). For your convenience, the Impulse 4000 automatically processes each energy pulse, displays the results, and waits for the next defibrillator discharge.

Cardioversion
Five different ECG waveforms are standard in the Impulse 4000 to determine the proper synchronization of your defibrillator. The Impulse 4000 measures actual delay time from the peak of the generated R wave to the peak of the defib discharge waveform. Readings are displayed in milliseconds ranging from -120 to +380.

Automated Defib Testing
The Impulse 4000 comes standard with seven ventricular arrhythmias that can be used to "arm" your automated defibrillator. A list of these waveforms can be found on the product specification sheet.

Transcutaneous Cardiac Pacemaker Testing
Utilizing an internal 50 ohm test load, the Impulse 4000 base model measures pulse amplitude, rate, and width for outputs such as rectilinear or trapezoidal/truncated waveforms. Additionally, the Impulse 4000 can be used to perform specialized refractory, demand, and detection tests without the use of auxiliary test equipment. For your safety and convenience, the pacer can be connected directly to the Impulse 4000 via a wide range of optional manufacturer-specific electrode adapters.

By adding an optional pacer module, you can take advantage of the Impulse 4000’s most powerful capability: testing a pacemaker model according to the manufacturer-specified test load, electrode connection, and pulse measurement requirements. One module can do it all. The Impulse 4000 is the only analyzer on the market that offers such ease and convenience, with up to four possible test loads in each module. You’ll also benefit from a hardware platform that will expand with your needs: as new pacer models are developed, new modules can be added to accommodate them.

Training
In addition to numerous testing functions, the Impulse 4000 features exceptional training capabilities. Interactive user scenarios assist student in First Responder programs that have training and certification requirements. Attach a printer to document student response times, actual energy discharge levels and cardiac event listing.

Other programs that benefit include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training which require energy dosage levels and interactive transcutaneous pacing. A defib manikin interface compatible with Chris Clean™ and Arrhythmia Anne™ manikins comes standard.

Automated Test Sequences
Customize up to 50 automated test sequences based on the test protocols you use most. These sequences can be tailored for defibrillators and transcutaneous pacers. A series of ECG performance testing and normal sinus selections can also be automatically sequenced to test the monitoring and recording features of these devices.

12-Lead ECG
The Impulse 4000 also features a true 12-Lead ECG simulation with independent outputs for testing diagnostic devices. Outputs are color-coded according to American Heart Association (AHA) standards, or you may specify European color coding at the time of your order.
